Memorial Day Weekend

My memorial day weekend was fabulous! I drove home with friends 20 hours to surprise my family which consisted of me walking in while my mom was giving my neice and nephew a bath as she started screaming. A few hours after I got home has a health scare with my dad as we thought he had a stroke. It turned out the best it could be and it was this.
Went to the beach on Friday, then the hospital. Up to the cabin on Saturday, played in the water, hung out on the boat. Drove home Sunday picked up erin and got back in the car for another 19 hour drive back to Colorado. All in all a lot of driving but so worth it to see my family and pat my sissy's pregnant belly and talk to my soon to be neice :o)

Carrie Underwood

On Tuesday I got free tickets to the Carrie Underwood Concert.
Josh Turner opened up, his voice is really low.
He is still hot though!
I took four good friends!
We all really like Carrie Underwood.
The concert was amazing.
I think if I knew her in real life, she would be my friend.
She is as cute as a button and was very impressive for dancing around in four inch heels.
Gotta give the sista props.

Me, rachel, and erin all very excited for the concert
Me, Rachel, Erin, Rachel Hosmer, and Cathy!

There is the diva
She's a hottie!

My love for Turkey Sandwiches

Today on my lunch break I was watching a recorded Oprah show and her title was Sandwich Showdown!! I was so excited, because people who know me know I love me a good turkey sandwich. In fact I eat them almost everyday. I LOVE them!

On the show this woman got to travel all around the United States to these sandwich shops and try out there top rated sandwiches. She got to sit down with the chefs that prepared the sandwich for her and rate it on her scale. I was thoroughly jealous, however I think I did find someone who loves sandwiches as much as me ;O)

What food could you not live without?

Mine =s turkey sandwiches.

follow up

Ok let's clarify I didn't burn my aparment down. Just almost :o)

But here is how the story went down. Observe this pallet to the left the wooden slap with the boxes on it. Well there were quite a few in a dumpster in my apartment so my roomie and I thought
hey we like fires, we should grab a few and use them for firewood.
So we did. They were broken and so we thought we would be easily able to break them down.

So last Saturday I am home by myself and I thought I would really like a fire. So I went outside grabbed one of the pallets and broke off the peices I could and started a fire, no big deal at this point.

Here is where my common sense went right out the window...
I ran out of wood and couldn't break any more off so I put the whole pallet into the fire place. I know i know. But I thought well it is such old wood and brittle that when it burns a little I will just be able to break it off. So it started burning a little and a little more and I tried breaking it down and I couldn't. So I thought ok no big deal I will just get a hammer and that will work. So I got the hammer and was pounding on it and that didn't work either.

Ok I thought this might be a problem.

So I started freaking out at this point, what am I going to do. I tried propping the pallet up inside the chimney that didn't work. I started thinking I might have to call 9-1-1-!! So I start sweating and kinda running back and forth in my apartment contemplating what I can do.

1. throw the pallet off of my deck as it is burning

2. throw water on the fire

3. all of sudden morph into superwoman and break the pallet with my super strong arms

4. Call 9-1-1 and have firefighters come into my home

5. Run away and it was a good thing I got that renter's insurance

6. Get the fire extinguisher

I went with the last choice, and I broke it out from under the sink. I then attempted to shoot the stuff out, well the one handle didn't work and at this point I am thinking to myself great I have the fire extinguisher out and now I can't even get the stupid thing to work. Finally I figured it out and was expecting this burst of the chemicals to come out. What really happened was white powder fell out of the hole. There was no such shooting out as I had anticipated. It was rather anti climatic as I was expecting.

So the part of the pallet that was actually burning was a ways into the fireplace I literally had to maneuver my body was I was almost standing directly above it since the powder was not exaclty working properly.

So there I sat on the floor sweating cause I thought I was going to burn my apartment down and having ripped the fire extinguisher off the wall and that was the result of me having a nice relaxing evening by the fire. FYI next time buy firewood :o)

katie does not always think...

I almost burnt my apartment down this weekend...more details to follow ;o)

peace

I am peaceful. As someone would be who is looking at this picture, only as if they were in the inside of it.
I know is has been a little bit since I have posted, but I have been a busy girl :o)
Recently I have been cleansing my life, what it is I partake it, what I do, how I act, what I say, what I watch on tv...and I am telling you what a difference it has made. I am sleeping better, I am happier, I am closer and more at peace with God than I have been in along time.
This change in my life has been preceeded by being intentional with people and being honest with my crap and having people hold me accountable. It is hard as anything. But that is why God created us for relationships and community. I love it.
Secrets suck! They keep us isolated from people and our creator, which is exactly what Satan wants. He wants us to keep those secrets and put that shame on us so we think no one would/could understand what I have done. They will think I am awful person. But guess what you are a crappy person( i mean that in the kindest way i can :o)), but that's ok cause everyone is. No one is perfect. So let someone in on your crap, I bet you will be surprised how they react. If they are good people and don't act stupid and judge you, they will rather receive you with grace as God does.
On my foot I have a tatoo of the word "grace" in hebrew, one of the original languages of the bible. It is sweet and it hurt like heck getting it on the bone in my foot, but it is a good reminder to me that God is grace, all the time. He doesn't care if it is 4 am and I need to talk, where as if someone woke me up at 4 am to talk I most likely would roll over and say see ya in the morning :o) I like sleep what can i say.
Be grace to people, loving them when they surely do not deserve it and when our human nature says no way!
But I think it is time for us as humans to really be raw and get to the bottom of our crap and move on. Live a better life. Be joyful. Be peaceful. For me that means being in God's hand, because He truly has my best and has to sift me before I get those blessings.
