my mignight adventure

This is my midnight adventure... read with pleasure

I had to work until 830 last night and then did not fall asleep until like 1130.
So then at about 1:22 am I was woken up abruptly by the sound of a light bulb being broken, which sounded very close since it did wake me up. I looked out my window and noticed that my porch light was not on and I knew I had left it on cause I like safety like that I mean come on I am the Crime Prevention Coordinator right????

So I am thinking holy crap someone is on my front porch. So I sit at my window for awhile just peeking out to see if anyone is there or if I can hear anything. I don't hear or see anything.

So I get up enough gumption to walk out of my bedroom and walk by the front door, mind you it is quiet and Katie is nervously walking down the hall.

So I slowly creep around the corner of the hallway and just stand there in anticipation to see if someone really is on my porch... there wasn't and I stood there for awhile and did not hear anything. I also felt the light switch in the off position. I walked back to my room, thinking all the while what would I have done anyways in just my t shirt and nothing else. Just say hi :)

So then being so nervous and worked up I didn't fall asleep again until about 5 this morning.

Got up at 630 to go to work. Peeled myself out of bed and got ready and Rachel told me she turned the porch light off last night and I walked out onto my porch and my porch light bulb was still in tact, and it did not look like anything suspicious.

So moral of the story->->-> I can't really think of one I mean come on I got like three hours of sleep last night :O)

Hope you all got more sleep then I did.

watch this

A friend sent me this video today at work and it just really struck a chord in me. I have been planning this huge event called the pre deployment fair with other agencies here in town for the military and it has just got me thinking about their lives and all that they the soldiers and their families have to go through.

It really is amazing at what our military sacrifices and I unfortunately forget about it because I am on the other side of the world and it does not affect me every moment of my life. But today watch this video and just send up a prayer for our soldiers and their families. And be thankful for your freedom as cliche as it sounds. You don't have a soldier from a foreign country standing outside your house when you walk to get your mail do you?

old and new friends

Two of my high school friends have recently moved to Denver and we have been hanging out and I have to tell you it has been great. When I moved out here I didn't really keep in touch with a lot of people from home so it has been a pleasure getting to know them again. It has been fun just having people out here who know me from back when. It really surprised me at how alike we all are still. I mean we have all changed but really all in the same direction. We all have the similar issues on social issues and our faith. It has been great.

This weekend my old good friend from high school willy visited shannon and so we all went up to ft. collins to tour the new belgium brewery and it was so much fun. So there are some pictures from our little escapade up to the brewery. It was fun chatting with old friends and new ones over beer.

The brewery is cool cause all their seats are made out of bike parts. I sat on a stool in which the cushion was a bike seat. It hurt my hoo ha, but it was fun ;o)

jill, shannon and i
all of us at new belgium brewery, good friend and free beer
hmmmm good beer, sunshine was my favorite

duckies

As most of you know I have a
small obsession :O) with ducks, as can be known if any of you have ever stepped into my bathroom. Which is covered in duckie stuff.

This is all to let you know that one of the most precious women I know my best friend's mom, mama lake sent rachel a package yesterday and in it was a little present just for me. . .

a duckie key chain that quacks when you press the buttom. It makes me smile. Am I four? No just easily amused by fun things.

What is your favorite thing that makes you smile?

Walmart

This past Saturday I worked an event in which it was a Safety Awareness Fair.

Which is really just a fancy title for four tables set up in an aisle of Walmart which myself, a weird guy who was an EMT, another wierd guy who was a nurse, and two people from our Utilities Company here in town who looked like mad scientists due to the fact that they both combed their hair straight up and looked like they had been electrocuted.

So there I was smooshed between mad scientists and weird EMT man who kept on looking at me and smiling and trying to think of something creative to say. I smiled and nodded and thought to myself how did I get signed up for this.

Well now I am not knocking the people who shop in walmart cause I shop in walmart. However if you spend a whole day in Walmart just looking at people you run into some pretty interesting people to say the least.

I will include for your viewing pleasure a few different types of people I ran into personally.

there really was a woman whom I spoke with on Saturday that looked like this picture below. However the woman I was speaking with had bright pink eye shadow and fake eyelashes on, fake eyelashes are great if they are not on crooked. I was trying to not keep myself from laughing cause all I really wanted to do was pull the eyelashes off of this woman just so she could see. She talked to me for 15 minutes...long time for katie :o)

I saw a plethora of men like this at Walmart on Saturday who each had their own variances. However all the same awkward, wierd, insecure men who feel the need to come up and tell me the most random story or fact. How does one respond to this??? Smile and nod.

I have become a professional of the maneuver.

I am thankful for normal people in my life. I love all different types of people do not get me wrong I just had a little to much of the odd ones this weekend. God is good and funny to me sometimes ;o)

jen's birthday

It was Jen's birthday this Saturday and we had a little fun with lunch and then nothing other then bowling. Here are some pics from this weekend. Enjoy.

jen doing her x for strike

kevin showing his moves
me with my moves and I almost got a turkey (that is three strikes in a row)

this was a just a picture from outside my apartment from this weekend
Jen and Cathy, for jen's birthday lunch

me, rachel and jen all smiles from us
apparently jen is excited about something, although she does tend to me a bit dramatic just like me :o) so it could have just been over knocking one pin down.
That's all it was a weekend full of jen's celebration of her birth, today hanging out with friends for our Octoberfest Celebration of beer and brats and Prison Break which has become mine and Rachel's new addiction. I have never watched so much tv in one weekend. My goodness. Thanks erin for getting me addicted. It really is a good show though.

this always makes me laugh

I feel mildly famous and important :O)

This week in Colorado Springs EXTREME HOUSE MAKE OVER IS HERE!!

here is the story. the sheriff's office I work for has been doing the security and escorting of the stars. So I, thought hmmm how do I as a non sworn person get close. Get one of the officers to take me. I did. Got right up next close to the house where regular people were not allowed. still however not close enough for me.

Then my friend Emily, who has been donating her services (she is a chiropractor) all week to the construction workers came up to me and we started walking around. A man named "sam" came up to us and was like have you toured the house yet? We promptly answered no.

He asked do you get your blue shirt yet when you checked in?

"No, I didn't get it yet.''

(katie may have been telling a little white lie cause I was
not really volunteering just there for the day)

Sam, said go get your shirt and tell em you are with sam and
if they have any problems have them call me and I will take care of it.

Got my shirt. then emily and I got to tour the house!!!

FYI: No one got to tour the house except for the people who were building it.

Katie felt special :O)

So here are my pictures. No I didn't get to meet Ty he was not there.

me in front of the house

These guys were like why are you taking pictures...but I was excited!!
Ty's "special" project
House from side view

In the middle of this picture is one of the famous designers, I forgot his name but he was hot and earlier on site he even checked me out :O)

I also sawEd Sanders.....I didn't want to be stalkerish so I just waved and smiled.

I am so happy and excited to be in the house with my blue Extreme Makeover t-shirt and hard hat. yes excited!

Notice the shirts, and the one lane bowling alley to the bottom right.

The reason I got to even to tour the house, my great friend emily. Thanks again so much em for letting me by your "volunteer"

Like I said I am mildly famous, got checked out by a famous designer (i will let you know when i find out his name :o), got to tour the house for a deserving family, and just had fun when I was "working" for the Sheriff's Office. All in all a pretty sweet day in the life of Katie Polavin.

Issybella a.k.a precious baby girl

I want to introduce to the world Issybella, one of the most beautiful most precious babies EVER!!! She was born on September 17th to the proud parents of Shawna Marie Hudson and Cameron Patt.

She loves her mommy
and her daddy
babies need LOTS of kisses...funny I am the same way :O)
She was just relaxing
She already loves her aunt Katie :o)
Shawna and Issybella, I think she was trying to eat her nose
can she get any cuter?

Shawna has already been great with her. It is very natural for her to be a mom. Granted she is only 20, but Issybella has brought nothing but joy and is a blessing from our creator. I praise the Lord today for precious Issybella. Shawna, also three weeks later after having a baby does not look like she even had a baby....already down to her cute little body again. Gotta hate her, she never even bought a pair of maternity pants.

concert this weekend

This is a video of Over the Rhine. Their music I had fallen in love with a long time ago.

I went to their concert this weekend. As I was sitting there in the dark in a small room in Denver, listening to sweet, smooth, sultry voice of Karen, it brought me back to the fall days in Michigan. It reminded me of the fond smile and beautiful eyes of someone I loved long ago.I love OTR. Enjoy!
