friends

Recently two of my high school friends have moved out to Colorado and this past weekend the three of us met up and had dinner together in Denver.

You know what is great? Friends.

I mean these two girls were my close friends in high school but that was a long time ago, however even after all these years we still got along great. They are both awesome and amazing and it was so nice to just sit, talk, and hang out with them.

I mean we all grew up in a pretty conservative, sheltered community that was not privy to getting out and really becoming cultured and diverse. However we all have seemed to change but all is the same direction. It was like no time has gone by at all and we were still the same great friends. So here is to great friends who are great no matter how much time goes by.

Porn Debate

Tonight I was at the Porn Debate between Ron Jeremy (porn star) and Pastor Craig Gross one of the founder of a great website that really has been a great tool I think for people who are trying to deal with the sexual addiction of porn.

This debate was held at Colorado College's Shov Chapel and it was packed. Granted I sat in the third row cause I got there two hours early (but hey I wanted a good seat).

Here is what I thought of the debate Craig's point were well taken and true. But I believe that he used some romanticism and exaggeration to make his point. Granted I understand that his standpoint was a lot harder to debate because he was always on the defensive and there were a lot of dumb people there who were just immature and just wanted to scream obscenities at him. But the one thing I did not like is he kept on making fun of Ron Jeremy and I understand they are friends. But still.

Also he kept on criticizing the things ron would say to him in confidence like when it was just the two of them and turn it against him.

Now believe me I am not condoning Ron Jeremy or his work, but I will give him this he answered every question with decency and respect. I felt sad for him. In his eyes he was just a sad old man. A man that has been hardened and calloused by our sick society. I think I actually would like Ron Jeremy as a person, he seems to be a good man, even though he is a porn star :o)

So in conclusion the debate went well and it was nice to hear from both sides and I honestly believe that the topic of porn was addressed and how it has become a pandemic in our society.

I wish that the church would continue in the footsteps of www.xxxchurch.com. That we would talk about sexual sin and it not be this taboo issue that Christians brush under the rug.

Cause guess what it is not going away. Porn and Satan are highly well supported it is a billion dollar industry that just gets bigger and bigger because as Christians we are afraid to address this issue head on cause it is dirty and messy. But that is what sexual sin is. It messes people up and we need to start dealing with it in a non shameful way so that people don't continue to hide these struggles under the carpet and continue to let Satan isolate us in our battles.

But Jesus came that we may be the light onto others and not in a shaming way, but in a gentle, loving, non-judgmental way. It is hard, please, do not think I am perfect and don't judge people cause I do. But it is time as Christians who claim to follow a God who loves other no matter what that we get out of our castles and off our white horses and get dirty. Get in there and love like God intended us to.

I like Ron Jeremy even if he is a porn star.

Parks

Monday night I had the pleasure of hanging out with my precious friend Erin.

She told me she had never been to one of my favorite parks called america the beautiful park. So i said well let's get in my car and i will show you.

Thus I did. It was late at night and this park is one of the best spots in Colorado Springs for soft, lucious, green grass. So we got out of the car and made our way to the huge fountain which sprays water and turns on the hour. We just walked around in the night air.

Then I told her about Memorial Park which contains our Fallen Firefighter Memorial. She had never heard of this either.

So in the car we went again. also the park where I would play softball...not a bad view huh?

We walked around and looked at the memorial which is a firefighter climbing down a ladder as he has a baby in his arms. There is also the memorial wall. Which is a huge marble wall that contains all the firefighters that have died in action over the years.

We were silent and just looked at the flowers that were laid on the floor cause they just had the memorial ceremony this past weekend. I gave her all the history of the memorial. Kinda felt like a tour guide monday night, guess it kinda helps that I dated a fire fighter.

So if you want tours...call me apparently I am a self proclaimed tour guide.

rockies baseball game

Yesterday rachel, and I and friends megan and her husband jason went to the Rockies Baseball game. Which was disappointing due to the fact that the rockies lost to the San Diego Padres.

However I still had fun doing of course but the fun seat dancing when the music segments come on to keep people entertained.

So when the game was almost done I asked a guy behind us to take a picture and he said oh yeah, you guys have been more entertaining tonight then the baseball game.

I blushed. I sometimes forget that I am public. Whoopsie.

Well either way it was a fun night. Props to megan who got us home in under and hour from Denver.

Impressive.

Weekend highlights

This weekend I did a community event where one of our local fire houses had an open house where they have all the fire trucks displayed, our haz mat truck open, helicopters that come and land so kids can get pictures with the flight for life pilots, and getting awareness out to the community about different resources that exist within the community.

Take a look see at me

flipping the leaf

I am listening to the song

On My Bones by kendall payne

This song describes my heart at this stage in my life. A huge life change has occurred I don't know if it was simply the inevitable or my choosing. But it had to be done. I had to let something that was one of the closest to my heart, go.

It was a choice that may have been done in vain, but I could no longer contain myself in this box.

So where do you go when the path you were planning on walking down crumbles underneath your feet? How do you trust God in that pain? I am tired of having my life in transition. I want to be settled. To have my community who knows my life and heart without having to put forth a tremendous amount of effort.

I am trying to put my feet in front of each other one step at a time.

Got any advice?

the incline

I climbed the over 3,000 stairs today that are built into the side of a mountain.

Called the INCLINE.

First time ever and it was amazing. I am proud of myself.

Also on Friday I learned how to use a typewriter. The people at work all laughed at me and said I so beyond young.

Did you know that typewriters have a back space kinda?

yeah they do.
