Happy Birthday Darling!

Today is my neice's third birthday. She is the most precious little girl ever. Some of the pictures I have below are old. But she is still one of my favorites. Happy Birthday Darling!

For her birthday I sent her a pink tiara, pink princess shoes and fun jewelry cause she is a little princess and loves being a little girl.

This is the hard part about living on the other side of the country from your family :o(

Bare Feet to Snow

Yesterday I came to work wearing sandals cause it was warm and sunny when I left home.

About six hours later I look outside (mind you my "office" is in the basement of a building with no windows so I often do not know what is happening outside) and it was snowing and not just a light fluffy pretty snow. Oh no, it was snowing sideways and the wind was horrific. It was still somewhat warm so the snow was heavy, thick, and full of moisture. Needless to say walking out in my little shirt and sandals with snow going sideways at me was not fun. This is what it ended up looking like when it was done snowing.
But the rest of the night was fun. My bible study got cancelled because of the weather so I went to a friends house with hot chocolate in hand cause what is better to sip on a cold night? Hot chocolate.

Driving home was like I was in a winter wonderland, on one road it is covered with trees and the snow was covering every branch. It was as if I was driving in a snow tunnel, quite a neat experience.

The last couple of days have been fun. Filled with hikes up mountains, 70 year old men calling me pretty :o)

Eddie Eagle

I need to preface this post with this is the fun part of my job doing the community event for the Sheriff's Office I work for.
I won this mascot for my work by entering an essay contest and only five were given out nationally, so it is a pretty big deal that we got one. The deputies love me for putting them in the mascot too :o)
So for the day I got to ride in our armored vehicle that we take on SWAT calls (which you can see pictures of at the bottom of this post). It was very neat to ride down the road sitting up front and having people look at you like what the heck are you driving and where are you going, someone even video taped us. Kinda felt like a celebrity.
So the guys and I show up to this elementary school with the lights and sirens going and get the kids all riled up and have Eddie Eagle standing up top of the BEAR and have fun with kids and give out badges and have 200 kingergarten and 1st graders attacked me. It was great!

Foggy Streets

Today it rained/snowed for a short time.
Then it cleared up, the sun came out and it caused the streets to become really foggy. Like there was smoke coming off from them. It looked so cool I felt like I was driving through smoke or I was on a movie. It was neato.
Made me think God is pretty mysterious and this is just a touch of the splendor and awe He can create with just the touch of His finger.
Last night I sat on a rock over looking the city playing I spy with Rachel it was pretty grand.
This weekend I found the third tunnel to Gold Camp road where legend has it that the tunnel collasped and in doing so killed a bunch of catholic school girls and if you go there at night they reach out to you....spooky I know :o)
I just thought it was a beautiful hike with friends. I love hiking in the mountains, especially in Cheyenne Mountain Park. The hikes there are so beautiful and you never really quite know
P.s. Does anyone want to play on a softball leagued with me through church..but you have to be good that is my only requirement :o)

5. Brought clothes to good will to donate

6. cleaned my aparment

7. Filled out warranty card to get my mattress fixed cause it is a POS (thanks rachel ) for lifting up the mattress)

8. Went to the post office

9. Ate dinner

10. Watched season finale of October Road, that show is sooo good

11. Met with dear friend to go over our Bible study we are doing together and share our hearts. I will blog more about this later. But the Lord knows what He is doing by bringing two people together who are going through the exact same thing.

kites

This weekend was glorious.

Friday night met with k group leaders to talk about life, loving Jesus, and how we can be better leaders to those in our small groups and eat home made pizza and drink a glass of white merlot. :o)

Saturday early got up to go to the REI garage sale, which is a members only sale. So here is how it works if you ever buy anything at REI (which mind you if you live in CO you should be a member here because it is the best outdoor store and if you live in CO you are always outdoors) it is the best idea to join. You pay $20 once and you are a member for life, you get a dividend check back at the end of each year of what you spent there each year. So every quarter REI puts on a garage sale of which the items are everything that has been returned. Some for simple reasons such as I did not like the color so there is nothing wrong with the returned item.

So people used to spend the night to be the first in line for the garage sale, however REI did not like that so much so now they have three lines and the lines get picked at random of which one goes first. My group and I all were there early so we were the first ones in line.

So we brought bagels and coffee and waited two hours in line on a cold morning to get severly discounted outdoor items.

I got:
- pair of snow shoes
- North Face Fleece
- Helly Hansen Fleece
- Outdoor Research Down Jacket
- Merell hiking boots
- pair of Super Feet insoles

All for a very good price!

Then I got to fly a kite two times this weekend. Random but fun! It was great to feel like a kid and not worry about what other people were thinking just to fly a kite. I even sang the Mary Poppins song :o)
