phone

Phone. I do not like talking on the phone. Which surprises a lot of people I think because I do love to talk. But honestly I would sooooo much rather talk in person. Which is a challenge because most of the people I love live on the other side of the country.
It is tough for me because I find myself really desiring to know about little things in life like what they ate for breakfast, or did in school or what not. But I need to find a different solution to this dilemma. This is why I am so all about texting. Get my point across and move on. Is that inpersonal?
So if you are talking to my on the phone and I am unenthusiastic, its not personal I still love you, its just my ear doesn't:O)

Observation

So I have been convicted of the busyness and constant noise in my life, so as a result I am not listening to the radio while I drive in my car.

Which is hard for me, because I know I have officially become an adult when I want to listen to news radio. :) I usually drive into work and turn on the news and listen to whatever has happened in my world the night before. I like to know what is going on.

I am doing a bible study right now with a great gal friend of mine.

We are doing a lesson this week on beauty. Last night I was going through the lesson and one of the questions is what distracts you from noticing beauty in the world.

Noise.

So what I noticed on my drive to work today

1. a mom with her son at the bus stop who were both laughing

2. that pikes peak looks more majestic with snow on it and clouds nestled in around it

3. that snow looks pretty on my windshield

We'll see what else I notice today, probably a lot.

I have made a promise with myself to try and be more observatory this week, because as most people know I like to talk... a lot.

So we'll see how that goes.

Is anything distracting you?

My Weekend

This weekend was spent doing lots of things.

Friday-spent the night in the doggie ER. Yeah the pup was acting weird and Rachel called in and they thought she had parvo so we brought her in. Considering parvo can kill puppies and stop their hearts instantly we decided it was time to make a trip. Molly was just laying on my lap fine and then she started breathing really heavy like she couldn’t get a full breath and then panting on the way there.

So Rachel and I bring her right in and put her on the scale and she pees right away. Awesome. Then they proceeded to do the parvo test twice, get her blood drawn and they put liquids under her skin. Meanwhile Rachel and I are so fricken slap happy that we were sitting on the floor and laughing at each other because we were so tired. We got there at quarter to 8 and left after 1, not happy and Rachel paid a hefty price all for them to tell them she didn’t have parvo, but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her J Molly is fine now, except she is still peeing everywhere.

Saturday- Kinda took it easy cause Mols wasn’t feeling so good. Ben and Melissa came over and brought yummy coffee, and we chatted with them. I love those two they are so great! Ran errands. Then had Carey and Rachel H. over for a yummy dinner. Dinner was wine, salad with chicken, butter noodles and good conversation. We proceeded to go to Trinity Bar, which was great. Four girls talking really loud cause the band was so loud we had to scream just in order to hear each other. Can I tell you one of my favorite things in life is sitting around a table with good friends, a good beer in hand and just laughing.
We had a lot of fun.

Sunday- church. I could expound on that little one word a lot, but I think those thought processes are better to be left between me and God. He is currently working a lot in this head and heart of mine. After church had a yummy lunch with great friends. Afterwards Rachel and I decided we were going to be outdoorsy (I am not sure if that is a word, but just go with it) and we got outdoor solar lights, cleaned up the backyard, brought back recyclables, and just made the outside of the house look good. I put the final coat of polyurethane of my shelves and they look AWESOME, if I do say so myself.

Then I watched TWLIGHT. Loved it and now am reading the book.

There is something to be said for doing things yourself, it brings about such a sense of accomplishment. I was thinking about that as I was brushing back and forth on the wood and appreciating the colors of the wood and as I was breathing in the smell of the making something look new.

Weekend was good. Got a lot done and relaxed at the same time.

Puppy time

So my old dog got replaced:)
My roomie, got a dog.
Her name is molly
The dog is a golden retriver and blue mal collie mix.
Rachel got her from a family she works with and they own both of the parents.
So Rachel has a puppy, and it lives in my house too.
She pretty stinkin cute and I already love her.
She is smart, a LOT smarter then penny ever was and we've only had her for a day.
She already went through the doggy door and she is only a puppy.
She's so sweet and just follows you around.
She will be trained.

However, this was something we kinda talked about and we were supposed to go look at her and see what we thought and rachel calls me yesterday and says, so I am picking her up at 4 today.
I said wow, I am not the only one who makes impulsive decisions huh:)

So first story.
Rachel gets her and conveniently she had to be gone to go play her violin/sing at the college ministry and I had a friend coming in from out of town.
So we go out,
and get back and aliyah has pooped all in her kennel and its all over the blanket.
Awesome!
So I had to clean the blanket and the floor and scrub the kennel.
Awesome again.
So thus goes, I'll keep ya updated :)

This morning I was getting ready and putting my contacts in and before I could manage to do that Molly had squatted on my carpet to pee.
ah the joys...
:)

St. Patty's Day

Hope you all have a great St. Patty's day, today.
Wear your green, don't wanna get pinched:o)

This was my girls this weekend when we went to the St. patty's day parade.

Jounrey

Yesterday I went on a hike here, to the St. Mary's Trail and it was great! 4.5 hours, but great.

I started out, just craving some alone quiet time. I started my hike not really knowing where I was going to end up which is the best way to do a hike. I started climbing and climbing and I wanted to go to the falls, except that I really didn't know if there were actual falls. Cause I am a Michigan girl and when I hear falls I think big bad rumbling water, not just a little creek. And here in CO a lot of times when they say falls a lot times they just mean a little piddly stream.

So I kept climbing and climbing and I got almost excited like it was Christmas morning and I was getting a present that I didn't know what it was; and I didn't know where I was going to end up.

I love hiking this way, when you don't really know where you are going but excited to just enjoy the journey. That's how I am trying to live my life these days. Knowing that I don't have it in my hands and I just need to enjoy the journey. Meaning smelling the flowers, looking up at the sky and noticing the clouds and hearing the birds. It makes my life fun.

I made it to the top of the trail and it was beautiful. I was as high as NORAD and the view was amazing. The waterfall was frozen but the sound of running water under the snow was very calming. Calming to my very chaotic life.

Today was a good day. It was fun to just enjoy the journey.

Are you enjoying your journey?

......

Life can change in a second.

Relationships can go down the toilet from one choice.
Jobs can be lost with with two words.
Loved ones can be in a car accident and be hurt for life.

Today, is one of those days.
Not for me, but people around me.
People that my heart breaks for, both in my professional and work life.
This week has been one of those weeks, where people snap and make choices that will affect the rest of their lives.
So much pain, the world is full of so much pain.
But yet,
in the midst of that pain
I can't help
but
feel
God is here.
He is and that is why I hold onto hope, in the midst of darkness.
If your heart is breaking today or someone had made a choice that'll affect your life, I pray for a nearness to hope, that you can hold onto it. If you can't hold onto it today, I pray that He'll hold onto you.
My heart breaks for you today. Whoever you are.....

Interesting

My brother, whom I look up to and respect. Whose thoughts, mind, and spirit are also incidentally very similar to mine in a lot of ways just had a excerpt from his blog that I wanted to share....

This is how I wish Christians acted in the world and towards people and social issues.

The world gets so caught up in this drawing lines, seperating things,
defining both sides so explictly. Let me just mention a few what if statements
that I try to live out. What if we were for adoption, instead of against
abortion, what if we were for healthy, undividing marriages instead of against
homosexuality, what if we are for seeing the best in people and their capability
to be Christ followers instead of being against the actions of so many(read
judgemental).

That's all, he is a wise man.

Adult??? or Carpenter

So this weekend I set out on another adult quest... staining furniture.

The particular piece of furniture was a book case that an old boyfriend made for me.

It was used in an old college house to put my clothes in, cause I admit this sista has way too many clothes to fit in one closet, let alone a small one.

The bookcase was quickly made and therefore did not get stained or polyurethaned.

So I bought both and decided with my recent move that now was the time to do it. I put grubby clothes on Saturday and set a tarp out and started staining away.

I even got down on my back to be able to stain the bottom shelf, and it really turned out great. So on Sunday I open my garage door to see my work and was almost shocked at what a difference just a coat of stain can do. It brought out these amazing colors of the wood.

So I started in on applying a coat of polyurethane. Once again I sat down on putting forth my best effort in applying my most talented work of painting or polyurethaning ( I don't think that's a word, but just go with it :o)

So I am sitting there intently starring at the book case and leaning over trying to get this one crevice and I don't know if it was because of me admiring my great handiwork or what but I drooled! I started laughing at myself and thought that'll humble ya:o)

So either I am a very talented carpenter to the point of causing myself to drool from incredible skills or I am just a drooler ;o)

pics to come of the book shelf.
